Wedding Thoughts -  A Wedding Blog

The Big Catch!

Unique and personal weddings don’t have to cost a fortune!

One of our couples wanted to showcase their love of aquariums as well as their love for each other. They learned that our local aquarium, Greensboro Science Center Sciquarium, rented space after hours! They were able to have their ceremony right in front of their favorite exhibit, the shark tank. Their rental fees while being incredibly reasonable support the operational expenses of a place meaningful to the couple.

They incorporated their love of all thing aquatic in many ways throughout the wedding. Their choice of venue was only the beginning. Decorations were small fishbowls with gravel and decorations in them. They decided it would not be wise to try to place fish in them! Their cake was absolutely incredible---the topper was perfect for them.

When we met we discussed how much of the ceremony should include references to fish, aquariums, and how much of their love of puns to include. In order to keep the traditional feel they wanted while also including their love of all things aquatic, we used a reading about how marriage is like the flowing river. We made sure their love story included their love of the beach and fishing. To represent their wonderful sense of humor there were puns and fun references throughout the ceremony.

(Yes, that is a shark swimming behind us in the middle of the ceremony)

To close out the ceremony, we compared how marriage is like fishing. Things like needing a license, learning as you go, not letting the big one get away and not being a catch and release situation were all mentioned. The ceremony was filled with laughter.

Their photographer was Kelli Russell Photography, who did an incredible job of taking photos without the glare of so many tanks around.

This is just one way you can have your ceremony truly represent your love and interests. Let us help you do the same! Give us a call---336-259-7236.
