After getting married many women are eager to get the process of changing their name rolling. They do the usual—Social Security, driver’s license, passport and work. If you have any questions you can check our website for guidance on doing a legal name change.

Don’t forget to contact the following:

  1. Board of Elections-your name on your ID must match your voter registration! This must be done 30 days prior to any election.

  2. Title Office-the name on your automotive registration should match your ID when you are ready to trade, sell or register the car.

  3. Insurance agent—in order to have your correct name on automotive, home owners, and life insurance policies. If you are beneficiary to a policy, ask the owner of the policy to update your name on it.

  4. Investments—contact your investment advisor to be sure all your documents are in order

  5. Utilities-if your name is one the account you will want it to match your banking and ID
