Help us Celebrate Marriage equality in Alamance County Free Wedding Friday October 24, 2014
All Faiths Wedding Officiants is happy that Marriage Equality has come to North Carolina. Since the 1st full day same sex couples could get married we have performed 24 same sex weddings. Many of these couples have waited literally years to be able to enjoy the same basic human right to marry that most hetero couples take for granted.
Yet we understand many couples are being treated with disrespect and some magistrates are refusing to perform civil ceremonies for same sex couples in Alamance County. Well take heart!
All Faiths Wedding Officiants of the Triad and Knot Your Average Events will co-sponsor a Free Wedding Friday, Friday October 24 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This Celebration of Love will take place at Knot Your Average Events’ Office, 1349 South Church Street, Burlington, NC 27215.
Recognizing that not all couples who want to get married under the new law have been able to find someone to perform the ceremony, Rev. H. Jackson (Jac) Grimes and Rev. Elizabeth (Liz) Grimes with All Faiths Wedding Officiants of the Triad will perform free legal weddings during this event for all of those that wish.
Each couple will have their choice of a secular, spiritual or religious ceremony and will also receive a decorative marriage certificate suitable for framing. To celebrate love in NC, these services will be provided at no cost to any couple, gay or straight, who presents a valid marriage license (information on getting your license can be gotten here) and provides two (2) witnesses age 18 or older. Due to the size of Knot Your Average Events office, Wedding Couples are asked to bring no more than 4 guests including their 2 witnesses.
