Is a Rehearsal Necessary?
Why are rehearsals important?
Your rehearsal serves several purposes and is an important part of your wedding ceremony. When you know exactly what is going to happen on your wedding day, you can relax and enjoy the experience. When your attendants know what is expected of them during the wedding ceremony, they can relax and know that they are doing all they can to make your day a wonderful and memorable experience for everyone. If children are a part of your wedding party it is helpful when they are comfortable with what is going on around them and can practice being in the right place at the right time. Rehearsals are the place to ask questions and become familiar with what will happen during the ceremony.
If you have a wedding coordinator or wedding director, they will guide the rehearsal process and your officiant will walk you through the ceremony part and what to expect from them. But, what happens if you don’t have a coordinator or director? A wedding officiant should be very experienced at running the rehearsal. They remove the stress of the rehearsal from you and help you enjoy the experience.
There are traditional ways of doing things but that does not mean that you can’t change them! If you have unusual circumstances, please let your wedding officiant know in advance and so you can work them out before hand and remove the stress of trying to figure it out at the last minute. Remember that no matter what happens this is your wedding and you will remember it with great joy and love. No matter how much stress you feel, remember to breathe deeply and inhale all the joy and love surrounding you.
It is important for the couple to know that they have the final say in all decisions regarding their wedding ceremony. Remember, if you want something different in the order of entrance or how people are seated or if there are circumstances which dictate changes in traditional wedding processes your wedding officiant or planner can help you make it happen. It is your wedding ceremony and you can have it your way! Work with your wedding officiant and planner so that things go exactly as you want. If you work together in advance of the rehearsal, you can reduce the stress of having others telling you what to do and also reduce the time necessary at the rehearsal. You will know it is exactly the wedding of your dreams.
