Writing your own vows? Want to pick from a list?

What should you do?

 WRITING YOUR OWN VOWS?

If you are considering writing your own vows but not sure where to begin, we can offer some advice.  You can decide together what you want to say to one another and write them as a couple.  To do so, decide up front how many words you want to use.  We suggest about 125-150.  What promises do you want to make to one another?  There can be humor, you can include very personal promises (to be on time, to put away leftovers, to laugh at your jokes) as well as the more traditional promises.

Or you can write your vows individually and submit them to us.  Again, decide how many words you will each write.  Usually between 125-150 each.  Then agree on a format.  One that works well for many of our couples is:

I love you because......................

I want to marry you/spend the rest of my life with you because......................

I promise to.................................

CHOOSING VOWS FROM A LIST?

If you are not going to write your own vows, you can pick vows from the list we provide.  Even within that you get a lot of choice.  You can pick out particular lines in vows that speak to you and mix them up to end up with vows that are uniquely yours.  You can also pick separate vows--each partner can pick vows that touch them.

Let us know which way you want to have your vows in your wedding.

SPECIAL VOWS

Dr. Who Vows

Our lives are different from anybody else’s. That’s the exciting thing. Nobody in the universe can do what we’re doing.
If I believe in one thing, just one thing, I believe in you.
There’s no one else I would rather journey through life with.
I can’t tell you where the path will lead, but no matter what, I will always protect and defend you.
No matter where we end up, I will always stand beside you.
Will you come with me? Because if you do, I should warn you:
It won’t be quiet, it won’t be safe and it won’t be calm.
But I’ll tell you what it will be- the trip of a lifetime!
The good things won’t always soften the bad, but vice-versa, the bad things won’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams.
One good solid hope is worth a cartload of certainties.
I made my choice a long time ago.
I am never leaving you.
I take you as my Husband and Companion forever.
Through all time and space, I’m yours.
I will travel along with you to the end of the world,
to the end of the universe.
Go forward in all of your beliefs, and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.
Through all time and space, I’m yours.
Together, or not at all.
