Your marriage license can be issued in any county in North Carolina, regardless of where you live or where the marriage occurs. Some counties are now allowing the initial application to be completed on line and the license to be picked up in the office, saving you valuable time.
You can complete the application online at each of the offices listed below and then take your documentation in to purchase the license. This saves you time when you go into the office.
Visit the Register of Deeds in any county, with proper identification, to purchase your marriage license. The cost is $60, some counties require money order or cashier’s checks, others accept cash or plastic. Check with your local Register of Deeds office to see what their requirements are concerning payment. Both of you must go in to apply for the license. If you have a prior marriage you will need information about the divorce or death which ended the marriage.
We will book simple short notice ceremonies up to 90 days out between November and March. From April to November we only book these ceremonies 30 days out.
